Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Foligno has unfortunately decided to take a leave of absence from the Chicago Blackhawks due to some tough circumstances.
At 37 years old,
Nick Foligno is an NHL veteran who has the respect of his peers, and that is probably never going to change, given all he has accomplished.
A few years ago, Foligno got to play with the Toronto Maple Leafs, albeit for just seven games in the regular season and four in the playoffs.
Now, he plays for the Blackhawks, where he is regarded as the leader of the team. He's a great guy, and the fans want nothing but good things for him.
Unfortunately, he is now dealing with a tough situation involving his daughter Milana, who suffers from congenital heart disease.
Nick Foligno leaves hockey for his daughter
When she was born in 2013, she needed an experimental surgery in order to get better from her illness. Now, just a few days after her 12th birthday, she needs another surgery.
As a result, Foligno is taking some time away from the game so that he can be there for his family during their time of need.
This is a truly difficult situation to have to go through, and our hearts go out to the Foligno family during all of this. We cannot imagine going through this.
All of this, and the outpouring of support, just goes to show that Foligno is a well-respected person who deserves his spot in the league.
Hopefully, all goes well for Milana, and the forward brings fans some good news in the coming days.
In the meantime, we will continue to keep you informed on the NHL season.
