Darren Dreger Suggests the Toronto Maple Leafs Are on the Verge of a Nick Robertson Trade

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson is not being given many opportunities to showcase the full range of his talents, and that may just spell his end in Toronto.
Nick Robertson is a forward who has been scrapping for a large opportunity with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Unfortunately for him, it just hasn't been able to come to fruition.
The Leafs have a lot of depth, and with the emergence of Easton Cowan, there just hasn't been any room for Robertson to grow with the lineup.
Since training camp, there have been discussions about potentially trading Robertson, although a new report from Darren Dreger suggests it is likelier than ever.
Nick Robertson needs a fresh start away from the Toronto Maple Leafs
On Insider Trading, he confirmed that Robertson is not satisfied with his role in Toronto and is going to want out imminently. It even seems like he has already requested a trade.
Meanwhile, general manager Brad Treliving has been working the phones, looking to find suitors. Ultimately, a trade seems closer than ever before.
He's hoping for a larger role, opportunity in the NHL; Treliving has recently talked with clubs that may have some interest; maybe it's time to give him a fresh start somewhere else
It is unfortunate that it has come to this, but that is the nature of the National Hockey League. Guys come and go all the time.
The Maple Leafs will probably be just fine without Robertson, even if he is a guy who can potentially give you 20 goals in a season.
If the Leafs do trade Robertson, it is very likely that it will be for a draft pick, as that is what Treliving will need come trade deadline time as a buyer.
Regardless, we can only hope that the Leafs and robertson continue to do right by one another until the very end.
