Malicious Hit on Easton Cowan Could Lead to Major Consequences From the NHL

Easton Cowan had an amazing game against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday, as he achieved his first career NHL point on a goal by Auston Matthews.

Through two games, Cowan has generated a ton of scoring chances, but his teammates have, unfortunately, not been able to convert.

Regardless, the kid is helping his team win, and if you are a Maple Leafs fan, you have to be impressed with what you have seen thus far.

Unfortunately, due to his stature as a rookie, there are some players around the league who are looking to take advantage, and intimidate him in a ruthless fashion.

One such player is Ozzy Wiesblatt, who basically threw Easton Cowan into the net on Tuesday night, which is a play that could have resulted in a bad injury.

While there wasn't a whole lot of discipline in the moment, this is certainly one of those plays that could result in a phone call from the NHL Department of Player Safety.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are lucky that Cowan was not injured on the play. Had he been, it would be a huge story this morning, especially as only one player came to his defense.

Regardless, the Maple Leafs got a 7-4 victory against the Nashville Predators, and it could not have come at a better time, as the Leafs had lost two in a row.

Based on his performance so far, it is clear that Cowan will not be leaving the lineup anytime soon. In fact, if he keeps this up, he may just be a permanent fixture of the top line.

You can't help but be happy for the kid, especially as there was so much hype going into his debut.
