Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan is a highly sought-after player, especially with general manager Brad Treliving looking to make a trade for the team.
Easton Cowan has been solid for the Toronto Maple Leafs in his rookie season, although there are still questions about whether or not he should really be in the AHL.
Interestingly enough, there have also been some rumblings about what Cowan's availability might be on the trade market.
Will the Maple Leafs trade Easton Cowan?
According to Nick Kypreos, Maple Leafs fans can breathe a sigh of relief, at least for right now.
Cowan is considered untouchable by the franchise, as Treliving simply is not willing to trade him away at this very moment.
While the Maple Leafs would like to add a scoring winger, they're limited by a lack of trade assets compared to other teams. Many clubs are expected to inquire about Easton Cowan, but he's considered untouchable for now.
However, there is a chance that the Maple Leafs look to trade someone like
Ben Danford, who is not a sure thing.
Ben Danford could be a more attainable prospect, though opinions around the league vary on whether he'll top out as a bottom-pair defenceman or develop into a top-four option.
The Leafs want to make the team better, and fans just have to trust that Treliving will do the right things to help this team.
Hopefully, Cowan can keep his spot on the team for years to come.
