Toronto Maple Leafs forward John Tavares was snubbed from the 4 Nations Face-Off, but it appears as though his Olympic hopes are very much still alive.
Despite his performance last season, Tavares did experience a snub from Hockey Canada, as he was left off the 4 Nations Face-Off roster.
Now, the Olympics are on the horizon, and fans have been wondering whether or not Tavares would finally get the invitation he deserves.
John Tavares to represent the Toronto Maple Leafs
On Friday, it was revealed that 26 forwards, 13 defenseman, and three goalies were invited to the Hockey Canada camp for the 2026 Olympics in Italy.
As it turns out, John Tavares was invited to the camp, which means he will have a huge opportunity to make the team, once and for all.
Of course, the players from the 4 Nations Face-Off will have a leg up on those who didn't make the team back in February.
As a result, it is going to be a bit of an uphill battle for Tavares, who is entering the twilight of his career. But if Canada wants a veteran presence, then they have one at their fingertips.
At the end of the day, Maple Leafs fans will be cheering Tavares quite strongly, and we hope he makes the team.
We truly hope to see Tavares in a Team Canada jersey once February rolls around in a few months from now.
