John Tavares Reveals His Future Following Conversation With Brad Treliving

John Tavares has been with the Toronto Maple Leafs for almost a decade now, and he has yet to accomplish anything of note with the franchise.

While he had a great regular season, there is no denying that he needs to be better in the playoffs.

His future with the Leafs is in doubt; however, on Tuesday, he spoke to the media about what is next for him and whether or not he will be coming back.

Unsurprisingly, Tavares reiterated that he would like to remain with the team. In fact, he had a conversation with general manager Brad Treliving, and he feels like there is a scenario where he stays.

However, it doesn't seem like this is even close to a guarantee right now. Instead, Tavares is simply hopeful that something could be done. Hopeful and likely are two different things.

Tavares is going to come with an expensive price tag, and when you consider the failures of the Core Four, perhaps it is best if the team just moves on.

While it would be sad to see this happen, sometimes, you just have to do what is best for the team, and Tavares just isn't that guy anymore.

His playoff failures have been frequent, and at this point, the fans are fed up with it. At a certain point, you have to move on.

Seven points in 13 playoff games speak volumes. That just isn't good enough.
