Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has his work cut out for him this offseason, and according to Elliotte Friedman, he is ready to get to work.
After a horrific loss in Game 7 to the Florida Panthers, there is no doubt that the Toronto Maple Leafs would be better off with a bit of a retool right now.
While you don't want to blow things up completely, getting rid of guys like Mitch Marner and John Tavares could prove to be extremely beneficial for the health of this team.
With the offseason just a few weeks away, it would appear as though these conversations are being had, and they could get very intense.
Elliotte Friedman drops major Toronto Maple Leafs news
After Game 7, Elliotte Friedman was on Sportsnet, where he made a huge declaration about the Leafs and what their plans are following such a massive disappointment.
As he explains, it would be simply shocking if the Leafs kept their core together heading into next season. Simply put, the entire NHL is expecting some huge changes from Brad Treliving and the front office.
"I think people would be shocked if they came back with the same core group next year."
If you are a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, you cannot help but welcome these kinds of changes with open arms.
Despite having phenomenal regular seasons, this team cannot get it done in the playoffs, which is a massive problem.
At this point, some fans have given up hope on playoff success. However, if the right changes are made, perhaps the team can be a lot better off in the future.
Hopefully, Brad Treliving does the right things and gives this fanbase something to cheer about come playoff time in 2026.
