Maple Leafs Captain Auston Matthews' Latest Revelation About His Health Changes Everything

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews dealt with a lingering injury last season, and going into this season, fans are concerned about his health.
Auston Matthews had some issues with his health last season, which led to a drop off in goal production. After scoring 69 goals the season prior, Matthews only had 33 this past season.
This past week, the forward was at Team USA's orientation camp, and for the most part, Matthews was looking healthy. Regardless, the speculation has remained prominent.
Auston Matthews set up for success with the Toronto Maple Leafs
During his time at the orientation camp, Matthews got to sit down with NHL.com, where he was asked about his nagging injury.
It was here that Matthews was able to set the record straight. As you will read, the captain is doing a lot better, and he even said that he's happy with where his body is right now.
"My health is good," Matthews said. "I feel a lot better. I think I took really good steps this offseason as far as that goes, and so I'm really happy with that progress and happy with where I'm at."
This is very good news for the Toronto Maple Leafs, as they are going to need their captain at full strength going into this NHL season.
Nagging injuries are tough to deal with in the middle of the season, as it is typically one step forward and two steps back. Going into this campaign, however, Matthews will have a clean slate.
Without
Mitch Marner on the team, it is that much more important that the Maple Leafs' captain puts his best foot forward.
With the NHL season set to begin in just six weeks, the anticipation for the Maple Leafs' return to the ice has reached new heights.
