Maple Leafs Defenseman Chris Tanev Makes Concerning Comments About his Injury

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Chris Tanev had some interesting comments about his upper-body injury that will not inspire much confidence in fans.
Chris Tanev has easily been the best defenseman on the Toronto Maple Leafs this season with 17 points and a net rating +26.
However, he got injured against the Boston Bruins a couple of weeks ago and he has been out of the team's lineup ever since.
Overall, Tanev has been a huge loss for the team and with the defenseman set to miss Thursday night's game against the Florida Panthers, there are increased concerns over his status.

According to reporter Lance Hornby, Tanev spoke to reporters today where he gave an update of sorts on his condition.
Essentially, he is trying to stick to the timeline set out by the medical staff and that he is not going to rush himself back if he doesn't have to.
Does not look like Tanev will play tomorrow vs. Panthers (he wasn't part of a regular partner rotation today). The defenceman will only say there is a team medical staff timeline he's sticking to, Berube says he's close but won't venture further.
While this is certainly admirable, there is no exact timetable for Chris Tanev's return to the lineup and that is going to be a concern, especially with the playoffs on the horizon.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have some important games coming up, especially when it comes to the race for the Atlantic Division title.
Before the end of the season, the Leafs have to play the Panthers three more times and without Tanev, winning those games will be that much harder.
If you are a fan of the team, injuries like this can't help but come across as extremely ill-timed and worrisome. But, such is life in hockey.
