Maple Leafs Fans Are Convinced Connor McDavid is Coming to Toronto

Connor McDavid is the best hockey player in the entire world although he is missing something extremely important from his resume.

Of course, we are talking about a Stanley Cup Championship. In all fairness, he hasn't exactly had the best teams to pull something like that off.

While he came close to making it happen in 2024, this year's version of the Edmonton Oilers is lacking in the goaltending and defense department.

With the Oilers lacking championship flare, and McDavid's free agency coming up in 2026, there are a whole bunch of rumblings right now about what the forward might do.

Last night, before the Oilers tied up their game against the Kings with 26 seconds to go, there were some big Leafs fan accounts on Twitter that were fantasizing about McDavid coming to Toronto.

If you know anything about McDavid, you know that he was a huge Maple Leafs fan growing up. Ultimately, this was the one basis for some jumping out the window and hoping for a potential blockbuster signing in about a year from now.

Interestingly enough, it isn't completely outside the real of possibility. We say that because the Leafs might lose Mitch Marner this offseason.

If that were to happen, and the Oilers regress year over year, then McDavid might be tempted to join a team that has Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and Matthew Knies.

Of course, it is impossible to really look that far ahead into the future. This is especially true when you consider how the Oilers are very much interested in locking down McDavid this summer.

Only time will tell what happens and whether or not the Leafs and Oilers enjoy the playoff success they have always wanted.
