Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving needs to get Mitch Marner signed to a deal and with free agency coming up, things could get interesting.

Mitch Marner finished off the NHL season with 100 points for the first time in his career and the fans in the city are very excited for him.
However, he is now going into free agency without a contract and the expectation is that he will become a free agent. This is anxiety inducing and fans are curious as to what will happen next.
General Manager Brad Treliving has the most to lose here as he is the one responsible for making the deal happen. All eyes will be on him during this process.

Brad Treliving on Mitch Marner

Today, Treliving got to speak to the media head of the playoffs. It was here where he spoke about the team's injuries as well as some of the storylines heading into the summer months.
Of course, Mitch Marner was brought up and fans were fascinated about what he might say. However, it wasn't exactly the craziest commentary. Instead, Treliving simply said Marner has been fantastic.
«He's been a leader, he's been a top player, and I think he's in a really good spot.»
Overall, this is good news for the Leafs because it does show that the team values Marner a lot. Whether or not they value him enough to pay him remains to be seen.
There are some who believe Marner could fetch upwards of $14 million per year which is a bit much, all things considered.
However, you really never know as players continue to get some truly massive contracts. There are plenty of teams desperate for top end talent.
Hopefully, the Leafs can go on a deep playoff run where Mitch Marner proves he can handle the postseason. This would make the Leafs want to sign him and it would also give Marner motivation to stay.
