Toronto Maple Leafs forward John Tavares is coming off a tremendous season with the franchise, and head coach Craig Berube is loving this return to form.
Last season,
John Tavares shocked a lot of hockey fans by having one of the best seasons of his professional career, at 34 years old.
The forward finished off the season with 38 goals and another 36 assists for a total of 74 points. It was sensational, and it earned him a new contract.
John Tavares and the Toronto Maple Leafs are ready to go
This past week, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube was asked about John Tavares and what he means to the franchise.
As you will read, the head coach is extremely happy that Tavares remained with the Leafs. While Berube wouldn't make any predictions, he did say how Tavares is an amazing guy all around.
Very happy. Johnny is as good a pro as you can find in the game, in my opinion, with the way he prepares. He is a great team guy, teammate, and leader. I didn't see any signs of him slowing down last year.
I thought he had a tremendous year. For me, I look at Johnny, and everything he does is what is best for the team. That is very important.
Whatever the case may be, this is going to be a great opportunity for Tavares to continue to show that age is nothing but a number.
The forward is still playing at an elite level, and we can't wait to continue to cheer for him, going forward.
We simply cannot wait for the season to officially begin in a few weeks from now.
