Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi was supposed to be on the first line this season, although it seems like the demotions just keep on coming.

Max Domi has been having a tough season so far. With just one goal in seven games, Domi has been unable to contribute offensively.
For the first few games, he was forced to center the third line, which was something he struggled with doing throughout all of last season.
However, on Tuesday, he was given the opportunity to play on the first line with Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies. Unfortunately, that didn't lead to much good.

At practice on Thursday, head coach Craig Berube showed off a new lineup that was meant to be a precursor to what we will see tonight against the Buffalo Sabres.
As you will see, Bobby McMann and William Nylander were put on the first line with Auston Matthews. Meanwhile, Max Domi was sent all the way down to the fourth line.
It's a pretty huge demotion, and it marks perhaps the worst demotion of Domi's time as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
McMann - Matthews - Nylander
Knies - Tavares - Maccelli
Joshua - Roy - Cowan
Lorentz - Domi - Jarnkrok
Blais, Robertson

McCabe - Carlo
Mermis* - Ekman-Larsson
Benoit - Myers

Primeau

*Rielly absent but skated earlier

This is a player who once scored 70 points in a season. Now, he is being reduced to a fourth-liner who can barely keep a role.
Overall, the Maple Leafs are paying Domi far too much money for his production to be this bad, and something has got to give sooner rather than later.
Only time will tell whether or not the Maple Leafs can fix their problems, or continue down this losing road.
