Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson is reportedly on the trading block, and there are more than a few teams that would love to acquire the forward.
Last season was a difficult one for
Nick Robertson as he struggled to get playing time down the stretch. In fact, he only appeared in three of the team's 13 playoff games.
He was playing on the third line with
Bobby McMann and
Max Domi, although there were plenty of times when head coach Craig Berube demoted him to the fourth line.
Who will trade for Nick Robertson
A new report from Sports Illustrated makes it clear that there are a few teams out there that would be interested in acquiring Robertson's services.
The three teams that were mentioned in the report are the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
All of these teams suffer from the same problem, which is a complete lack of offensive ability. Robertson could come in and contribute to their bottom sixes.
The Penguins seem like the most logical destination, especially since Robertson was drafted by the team's general manager, Kyle Dubas. There is a connection already there.
It is unclear whether or not a Robertson trade would be for cap dump purposes or if they would try to get some real assets back in return.
There is also a world in which the Toronto Maple Leafs keep Robertson on the roster going into this season. Whether or not this is the best option still remains to be seen.
