Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies will become a restricted free agent this summer, and fans are very curious about what he will decide to do.
Matthew Knies was one of the best sophomore players in the NHL this past season, as he was able to score 29 goals and 58 points.
There are conflicting reports on whether or not Knies will sign a bridge deal or a long-term contract. Whatever the case may be, Leafs fans are on edge.
Matthew Knies has a plan for the summer
Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs forward was recently the subject of a report from Joshua Kloke of The Athletic, who had some interesting insights about Knies.
For instance, we now know what Knies will be up to this summer. Essentially, he is looking to spend time in Minnesota, where he will train with former college teammates.
Matthew Knies is expected to spend most of the summer at home in Minnesota, training consistently with his former University of Minnesota teammates who've since made the jump to the NHL, including Jackson LaCombe and
Jimmy Snuggerud.
He's likely to focus on adding more explosiveness to his skating and continue bulking up to become one of the league's more dominant power forwards.
Knies wants to prove himself as a power forward, and it seems like those are his intentions while training in Minnesota.
Regardless, it is good to see that Knies cares about his craft and wants to put his best foot forward from here on out.
It just shows that he is a young star in the making who has a good head on his shoulders. Something that is important if you want to make it in Toronto.
