Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander was a stud last season, although, according to NHL analyst Darren Pang, trading him away might be the answer.

William Nylander led the Toronto Maple Leafs this season with 45 goals. He added another 39 assists for a total of 84 points, which is a truly impressive mark.
In the postseason, Nylander had 15 points in 13 games, which just goes to show you how valuable he is to the Leafs franchise.
However, there is one NHL analyst out there who thinks the Leafs need to trade him away in order to get better.

Darren Pang says trade William Nylander

As Pang explained to the TSN 1050 OverDrive guys, Craig Berube coaches in a way that is incompatible with Nylander's style.
For me, the way Chief [Berube] coaches. The big move is Willy Nylander. I know I said he needs to have a big game last time we talked, but there's a style of play that isn't working.

Marner gets a lot of heat, but he plays a much better two-way game. Nylander gets a lot of credit; he's a great skater, gets open, gets opportunities.

Wanna blow things up? Move one player out to get two players back. Other managers have done that, lacking some depth; you might not have John Tavares, and won't have Mitch Marner.

You're handing the keys over to Matthews and Nylander; you don't know about Knies yet. What happens if there's no Matthew Knies, or Marner, or Tavares? They are big if's but they are probable ifs.
Pang understands it would be a tough move, however, the Leafs need to do something similar to what the St. Louis Blues did.
You gotta make the moves that Doug Armstrong made a few years ago. He got Ryan O'Reilly at 27 years old; he gave up Tage Thompson, who ended up being a really good player, but he was a late draft pick.

He gave up a little bit and a first-rounder and got Brayden Schenn at 26. Maybe this is the time for Brad Treliving to knock on a few doors and get one player for two or three.

Make a wholesale change that shows it's his hockey club and not anybody else's. This is the time to make those moves.

You signed a coach long term who loves to be here, loves Toronto, and he's gotta work with him to find the players to work with him and continue to advance this team. They had a heck of a year.

Quite frankly, it is impossible to agree with Pang. After all, the Leafs are about to lose Mitch Marner.
Losing William Nylander would put this team in ruin. Sure, they would get a hefty return, but that's 45 goals' worth of production that needs replacing.
Hopefully, general manager Brad Treliving ignores this advice and sees it for what it is... ridiculous.
