Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies is an absolute beast out on the ice, and that was certainly on full display against the Florida Panthers in the NHL Playoffs.
Matthew Knies was an absolute beast for the Toronto Maple Leafs this season as he registered 29 goals and 58 points in his sophomore season.
Matthew Knies suffers big injury
Thanks to Joshua Kloke of The Athletic, we now know what kind of injury Knies was going through, and as you can imagine, it was a difficult one.
It is being reported that the forward had a deep bone bruise in his ribs. While some thought it was his leg, it was actually his abdomen that was hurting.
It's believed that Matthew Knies sustained a deep bone bruise to his ribs during Game 6 against the Florida Panthers.
Despite being in considerable pain, he quickly made the decision not to miss Game 7.
Thankfully, Knies did not break any bones. Had he broken some of his ribs, then perhaps he would have been out for Game 7.
Of course, his injury didn't matter as the Leafs lost 6-1 in a game that was their biggest of the entire season. Next year, they must be better than that.
Now, Knies will have to focus on his next NHL contract. He is a restricted free agent this summer, and he will be allowed to seal his own fate.
