Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies is still relatively new to the franchise, although that has never deterred him from speaking his mind after a loss.
Matthew Knies scored a goal against the Detroit Red Wings on Monday, but it was not enough to help his team finish off the game with a win.
Instead, the Maple Leafs ended up losing the game by a score of 3-2. They lost it in the final minute, and it was a heartbreaker considering the Leafs had lost the game before.
Going into tonight's game against the Nashville Predators, everyone understands that the Maple Leafs are going to need to be a whole lot better.
Matthew Knies tells it like it is
As for Knies, he was brutally honest after yesterday's game, and his comments show just how unafraid he is to speak out when his team does a bad job.
I still think we need to play a full 60 minutes. You know, we can't let it break down, especially in the last few minutes of a period of a game. That's unacceptable by us, and I think we just need to play simpler at those times of the game and manage the clock a little bit better.
Yeah, he played great. A lot of props to him, he held them in it. I think we had some really good opportunities, and he closed the door on a lot of us. Yeah, he held their team together and I think we just got to be better on making some better puck plays in front of the net and I think we're bound to score more goals.
Going into tonight's game, the Maple Leafs are just going to need to buckle down and do better. That is easier said than done, but it's true.
There needs to be some urgency with this team, otherwise, they are going to continue to fail, and that is simply not an option.
The fans want a much better performance, and they cannot afford to lose a third game in a row at this point in the season.
