Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk is looking to make the Toronto Maple Leafs pay tonight and he is already engaging in some severe pre-game antics.
Matthew Tkachuk is considered by many to be a bit of a rat and that has especially been true in this series against the
Toronto Maple Leafs.
Tonight is Game 7 of this second round series and fans are going to be hoping that Tkachuk plays a subdued game. Of course, by fans we mean Leafs supporters.
The game goes down in Toronto and you would think that this is a huge advantage for the Leafs. But for Tkachuk, the home ice will not matter.
Matthew Tkachuk on the Toronto Maple Leafs
Ahead of Game 7, Tkachuk spoke to the media and it was here where he spoke to why the Panthers are the better team for these Game 7 scenarios.
In his mind, the Panthers will be able to wear the Maple Leafs down over the course of tonight. Having said that, Tkachuk also thinks that by Game 7, the Leafs are very tired.
"Our game is built on wearing teams down over the course of a seven-game series, over the course of a game. It might not show in the first five minutes, but hopefully it shows in an overtime or late in the third."
If you are a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, you will absolutely be watching tonight's game intently.
This is a franchise that has not been to an Eastern Conference Finals since all the way back in 2002 and it just so happened to be against the Carolina Hurricanes.
If the Leafs can play like they did in Game 6, there is a realistic chance they win the game, but as Tkachuk explains, it will be difficult.
For numerous Leafs players, this is going to be a legacy defining moment and we cannot wait to see how they handle this.
