Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner has been having an amazing season so far and it just so happens that he is breaking records for the franchise.
Mitch Marner is currently leading the Toronto Maple Leafs in points this season with 62 in 46 games.
What made his first assist so special, however, is the fact that it broke a longstanding Toronto Maple Leafs franchise record.
Marner notched his 700th NHL point and he did it 622 games. This surpassed Darryl Sittler who hit the same amount of points in 666 games.
With his assist last night, Mitch Marner officially became the fastest Leaf in franchise history to reach 700 points, accomplishing the feat in 622 games and surpassing Darryl Sittler, who did it in 666 games.
However, Marner may only hold the record for a little while, as his teammate, linemate, and good friend Auston Matthews is slated to eventually surpass him, as he currently sits with 683 points in just 593 games.
