Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner has the ability to become a free agent on July 1st, and there have been plenty of rumors about what he plans to do.

Mitch Marner is easily the most sought-after free agent on the market right now, although teams will have to wait until July 1st before they can talk to him.
However, in the eyes of many, Marner is as good as gone at this point. Overall, his comments are all in the past tense, and he doesn't seem enthused about Toronto anymore.
Of course, there is still time to change his mind. Whether or not he does, still remains to be seen.

Is Mitch Marner going to test free agency?

If you were to ask all of the big insiders about Marner, they would immediately tell you that he is going to be testing the open market.
The latest insider to say this was none other than Pierre LeBrun of TSN. While speaking to TSN 1050, LeBrun put the nail in the coffin for Marner in Toronto.
"I think pretty much it's a done deal [Mitch Marner] is going to market"
Mitch Marner had 27 goals and 102 assists this past season, which means he is going to be virtually impossible for the Maple Leafs to replace.
Although they could certainly try to replace him, that is not going to happen this summer. Instead, the Leafs would have to wait for 2026 before the big-name free agents like Connor McDavid hit the market.
Either way, this is going to be a rough summer for the franchise, and it will be interesting to see if the team gets better or worse.
While we are hopeful the team gets better, that is not going to be easy, all things considered here.
