Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner is likely to explore free agency on July 1st, and his wishlist of teams continues to be concerning given the Leafs' history.

Mitch Marner's time in Toronto is seemingly winding down. On July 1st, he can sign a contract with whomever he wants. Before then, he can only negotiate with the Leafs.
Based on recent reports, it seems clear as day that the superstar winger would like to explore his options. It's hard not to when some teams are willing to spend over $14 million per season on you.
There are numerous teams looking to make offers. The Columbus Blue Jackets, Anaheim Ducks, and Los Angeles Kings are all teams that reportedly want to make a run at the forward.
However, the decision is up to Marner, who reportedly has a meticulously curated wishlist of teams he would like to go to.

According to James Mirtle, one of the teams at the top of his list right now is none other than the Florida Panthers, who are in the midst of a Stanley Cup run right now.
The Panthers are the team that knocked the Leafs out of the Playoffs, so you can imagine the anger within Leafs Nation right now, hearing that Marner wants to go to Florida.
In fact, this feels a lot like what Kevin Durant did all the way back in 2016 when he left the Oklahoma City Thunder and opted to play for the Golden State Warriors.
Whether or not the Panthers have the cap space or the desire to sign Mitch Marner is a different story entirely. After all, Florida has to send an offer first.
Regardless, this report is going to be troubling for those fans who have loved Marner since he joined the team a decade ago. Going to Las Vegas or Los Angeles is forgivable. But Florida? That cannot and will not be forgiven by the fanbase.
Only time will tell whether or not Marner really does leave, or if he opts for the comfort of his current situation in Toronto.
