Mitch Marner Reacts to Heartbreaking Toronto Maple Leafs News

Mitch Marner hasn't spoken about the Toronto Maple Leafs since the team was eliminated from the playoffs over a month ago.

However, since that time, we have gotten a ton of rumors about where he wants to go, and which city he was recently spotted shopping for homes in.

In the midst of this supposed vow of silence, Marner has decided to speak up on something that has to do with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Although it may not be the update some fans were hoping for.

As we reported on Tuesday, former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matt Marner retired after 15 seasons in the NHL. While he only spent two of those seasons in Toronto, he and Mitch were good friends.

With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that Marner went out of his way to congratulate Martin on a career well-played. Below, you can see the superstar winger's social media post about it.

Now, Marner will likely go ghost on social media again until July 1st, which is when he is expected to meet with a plethora of teams to discuss who he will play for next.

Overall, the Las Vegas Golden Knights seem to be the favorites, but you never really know. Anything can happen between now and next week.

If one thing is for certain, it is that Leafs fans are already pretty certain that Marner is on his way out, for better or for worse. It was an inevitability.

Hopefully, if and when Marner does leave, he does so on good terms and does right by the people of Toronto. The fans here deserve the class and dignity.
