Calgary Flames forward Nazem Kadri was not invited to Team Canada's Olympic training camp, and there are many hockey fans who believe this is a shame.
Nazem Kadri had 35 goals last season, making the 2024-25 campaign one of the best of his entire career. This is saying something when you remember the man has a Stanley Cup.
Individual stats aside, the Calgary Flames did not make the playoffs, and as a result, the forward's efforts went under the radar. Although if you're a Maple Leafs fan, you've been paying attention.
Unfortunately, despite his efforts, he was unable to get invited to Team Canada's camp for the Olympics, which means he will not be on the team.

When you consider just how well Kadri has played over the years, it becomes clear just how surprising all of this is. Even if he didn't deserve to make the team, surely an invitation would suffice.
Recently, Kadri spoke to The Athletic, where he noted that he deserves a chance. In fact, he wants to try and play his way in, despite the odds.
I feel like I deserve a chance. I think over the last few seasons I've certainly proven that with my statistics and the winning pedigree. I think it speaks for itself.

Overall, Kadri is a player who deserves his flowers, especially with retirement likely to be around the corner for the forward.
He is a player who has truly developed into a phenomenal goal-scorer, and he is the kind of guy you want to have on your team.
While Team Canada is certainly a lofty goal for him, he still deserves to at least get some kind of look, given everything he has accomplished.
Hopefully, he can have a strong start to the season and play his way into a potential role.
