Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid has yet to sign a new deal with the team, and insiders like Frank Seravalli have been delivering some truly useless updates.
Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers are very likely on their way to a new contract agreement, although neither side has made things public.
Instead, we actually know very little about the relationship here, and there is no telling whether or not McDavid wants to stick around in Edmonton for a few more years.
Of course, there are some insiders out there who want to beat everyone else to the punch, and get the scoop that will set them apart.
Frank Seravalli catches heat for Connor McDavid report
Frank Seravalli is one of those insiders, as he recently revealed that McDavid will sign a deal from two to eight years in length. He also said the salary was going to be from $16-$17.5 million.
This is a pure spitball; I believe it will be somewhere between $16-17.5 million a year on a four year deal; it could be anywhere from 2 to 8, I don't think they've ruled out 8; 4 years might be the sweet spot
This is kind of a ridiculous report when you consider how most deals are between two and eight years. He's not really revealing new information.
As a result, Seravalli was ripped to shreds on social media, with various fans making fun of him for delivering such a useless report.
At the end of the day, it is very possible that we do see McDavid sign a deal between now and the next couple of weeks.
Overall, McDavid is the best player in the league, and the Oilers have every motivation in the entire world to get this done as quickly as possible.
Whether or not they have their captain's approval for that, still remains to be seen, and things should get very interesting, very soon.
