Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett has been heavily scrutinized this season for his big hits on Toronto Maple Leafs players, including Anthony Stolarz.
In Game 1 between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Florida Panthers, Sam Bennett elbowed goalie
Anthony Stolarz in the head, which created a media firestorm.
As for Bennett, the NHL refused to discipline the forward, which turned out to be a huge point of contention amongst fans who felt like the Panthers star hurt Stolarz on purpose.
Overall, Bennett is under the microscope yet again, this time for a hit that took place in overtime against the Leafs on Friday night.
Early on in the overtime period, Bennett unleashed a huge hit on Calle Jarnkrok, and once again, he got his elbow up.
Thankfully, Jarnkrok was okay and was able to get up. However, it was yet another example of Bennett playing on the edge and doing things that could get him into a lot of trouble.
Heading into Game 4, the Maple Leafs are going to have to bring some physicality and make sure that players like Bennett don't keep running around like this.
With Stolarz out, the Leafs cannot afford to lose anyone else here. If they do, it would be pretty tragic and could cut into their playoff hopes.
They lead the series 2-1, but with Game 4 in Florida, we could be all tied up once Game 5 rolls around back in Toronto.
Whatever the case may be, this is going to be a great series and one that will be remembered for a very long time.
