NHL analyst Colby Armstrong had some interesting comments on TNT recently about Mitch Marner and the potential for going to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Mitch Marner and the Toronto Maple Leafs are in the midst of a contract negotiation that has not been going particularly well for the latter.
Everyone knows that the forward is looking for a humongous contract and despite being offered upwards of $13 million, he is looking for $13.5 to $14 million, which for many, is quite selfish.

Mitch Marner to the Pittsburgh Penguins?

According to NHL on TNT analyst Colby Armstrong, one of those desperate teams is the Pittsburgh Penguins, ran by former Toronto Maple Leafs general manager, Kyle Dubas.
Armstrong sees the connection and with $26 million in available cap space, he believes Dubas is going to make a very serious run at Mitch Marner.
"Brings me to my next point... and look at free agency and who's up and Marner. Can they secure him and can they sign him in the off-season. I'm just saying there's a relationship there with Kyle Dubas."
Marner has 79 points in 62 games this season and recently notched yet another 20-goal season.
Although he has yet to show much in the playoffs, he is definitely someone who would be an asset to any team and will easily be the biggest free agent on the market this summer.
Ultimately, it is going to be very interesting to see how the Maple Leafs navigate this situation knowing that Marner holds the vast majority of the power.
If they lose him for nothing, the fanbase is going to be upset, and as it stands, it appears to be truly 50/50 as to whether or not he stays.
