Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nicolas Roy is being asked about his new gig, and his comments make Las Vegas Golden Knights forward Mitch Marner look bad.
Nicolas Roy was part of the Mitch Marner trade to the Las Vegas Golden Knights, and now, the center has a huge opportunity with the Leafs.
Nicolas Roy on playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs
While speaking to 'Leafs Morning Take,' Roy spoke about what it means for him to get to play with a franchise like the Leafs.
To play, like I said, for a Canadian team - a bigger market - obviously there's going to be a little bit of pressure. But I think that's a privilege as a player. When there's pressure, it means the expectations are high, and that's when you want to play - that's when you want to play your best hockey. So yeah, I'm really excited.
Roy also noted what kind of player he wants to be, and how he plans to help the Leafs this upcoming season.
I know I'm never going to be the flashiest guy out there, or the fastest, or have the best shot. But I think I can do it all, especially when it matters most. I'm hard to play against, I like going up against top players, and I can match up against the best lines on the other side. I can play in every situation, and I think that's definitely what I bring to the table.
If you are a fan of the Maple Leafs, you are going to love these comments from Roy, who understands the weight of playing for the Leafs, unlike Mitch Marner.
Some players thrive under pressure, and some players crumble under it. The Leafs need the former.
Only time will tell whether or not Roy can be the player that the Maple Leafs need him to be.
