Paul Bissonnette and Ryan Whitney were on Spittin Chiclets recently and had an interesting take about Toronto Maple Leafs star Matthew Knies.

With 25 goals and 49 points this season, Matthew Knies has been a sensational player for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the fans want him to be around for a long time.
Unfortunately, he is a free agent this summer and while he might be restricted, there are a ton of teams who would love to have him.
General Managers are getting more brazen with offer sheets and it seems like Knies could be the perfect candidate for one.

Will Matthew Knies get an offer sheet?

On a recent episode of Spittin Chiclets, Ryan Whitney and Paul Bissonnette gushed about Knies, however, they were very quick to sound the alarms.
Firstly, Bissonnette explained why he loves Knies so much.
Per Bissonnette:
«There are only three players in the NHL with 25 goals and over 150 hits, and I believe it's Tom Wilson, Brady Tkachuk, and now Matthew Knies. I think they have a unicorn in him. He's the type of player that makes me miss Hyman less. Like, we didn't have a good net-front guy.

We didn't have a puck hound on the forecheck and a guy who is relentlessly working. I think the sky's the limit-he's a dog, and he's the type of guy you need to win. So fired up about having this guy, and he's probably gonna get, like, eight times nine.»
As for Whitney, he is very much convinced that Matthew Knies will get hit with an offer sheet, much to the chagrin of the Leafs.
Per Whitney:
«I think he's gonna get offer-sheeted. Like how you saw Broberg and Holloway.

Like, you give the offer sheets, and I'm assuming Toronto would match, but he's just so good. And with the cap going up, I think maybe offer sheets will become a much bigger thing, a much more popular thing. How else are you gonna get studs? You can't get them anymore.»

Of course, the Leafs could still match the offer sheet, but it is still not an ideal situation.
Hopefully, both sides can get something figured out here without any issues.
