Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews is dealing with an injury right now, and this has inspired Paul Bissonnette to give him a very valid word of warning.
Auston Matthews' lingering upper-body injury has been a problem for the Maple Leafs all season long and now, it seems like he is going to be out for the immediate future.
Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews remains out of the lineup
While the captain wants to be out there, it has been made clear that the Toronto Maple Leafs would prefer him to just take the time off and get himself right.
As for Paul Bissonnette of Spittin' Chiclets, he is warning Matthews to stay home for the time being.
In fact, Bissonnette believes the captain should avoid the 4 Nations Face-Off as it would be truly embarrassing for him.
"I would say this... 'As good of a player as you are, and as a world class talent as you are, save yourself the time of getting embarrassed by Team Canada at the 4 Nations [Face-Off]. Just sit this one out. Save your energy up for playoffs, the games that matter. F*** the 4 Nation, Canada's a wagon. Don't embarrass yourself.' That's what I would say, personally, if I was Berube, Shanahan and Tree. I would sit him down now and save him from that."
Team Canada and Team USA are easily the most hyped-up teams going into this tournament, and Auston Matthews was supposed to be a factor.
However, with his injury, many have argued that the tournament is not important enough for Matthews to actually play.
That would certainly be the best course of action, but it would be difficult to convince the captain of this.
Hopefully, someone gets through to him, and Matthews can be ready to go by the time the playoffs come around.
