Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice is going up against three former players during the Toronto Maple Leafs series and it should prove to be a lot of fun.
Paul Maurice has done a phenomenal job with the Florida Panthers this season and while they didn't win their division, they are getting healthy at the right time.
For all intents and purposes, this team is cooking and the
Toronto Maple Leafs should feel very scared right about now ahead of their second-round series.
Paul Maurice speaks on former Florida Panthers players
Prior to the series, Paul Maurice spoke about his former players and how he is going to feel about going against them in the next round.
Overall, he seems to be appreciative of what they did for the Panthers and he is excited about their newfound success abroad.
"Good for all of them. OEL had established his career, but Steve and Anthony are at a new level of opportunity. They're still a part of our story, but we're happy they've found a place where their input is very important."
At this stage, it is looking as if the series will officially begin on Monday, May 5th in Toronto which is in about three days from now.
The Panthers are the favorites and while the Leafs have home ice, it is clear that the Panthers have the team that is built for the postseason.
Hopefully, the Maple Leafs can channel the underdog energy and surprise some people with a long and fruitful series.
If one thing is for certain, it is that the fans are just happy they got past the Ottawa Senators.
