Ryan Reaves Finally Comes Out of Hiding Following Toronto Marlies Assignment

Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer Ryan Reaves was gone for a while following his demotion but now, he is back practicing with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.
Ryan Reaves is a player who did not have a great campaign with the Toronto Maple Leafs as he notched just two points and a ton of healthy scratches.
Although he was mostly acquired to fight and throw the body around, he only got into one fight this season and the Leafs simply were not having that.
Just a day prior to the trade deadline, Reaves was put on waivers as part of a salary dump and since that time, he has been assigned to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.

However, a couple of weeks ago, we reported that Reaves hadn't even spoken to Marlies head coach John Gruden and that he had yet to report to the team.
This led to speculation of tension in the organization, however, the forward has since made his way to Marlies practice and was seen on the ice today.
Gruden spoke to the media and said that Ryan Reaves is trying to stay ready but as it stands, there is no immediate plan to play him.
«He's just going to stay ready. He's going to work with the development staff, and at the end of the day, he's just going to continue to make sure he's ready to play regardless.»
It is good to see that Reaves is in better spirits and is actually participating in some on-ice activity right now.
However, you cannot help but feel like this is the end of the road for the enforcer who is now 38 years old. At the end of the day, father time comes for everyone.
If it is the end of the road, it was a long career that Ryan Reaves should be proud of. It is just a shame that it would have to end on these terms.
