Ryan Reaves was just traded from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the San Jose Sharks, and with the end of his career in sight, he is planning for the future.
Overall, this is a move that immediately improves the Leafs while providing the Sharks with some grit in their bottom six.
Ryan Reaves on retirement
Now that the enforcer is reaching that retirement age, he is starting to think about what life will be like once he stops playing.
While on the Cam & Strick Podcast, the forward noted that he would love to be a coach, and he even believes he would be good at it. If not a coach, he would instead try his hand at management.
I think I'd be a good coach. I would like to coach.
I think I would really enjoy coaching. I think I would really enjoy management... trying to build a team, a championship team, sounds like a really good time.
Plenty of former players have gone down this path, so it isn't a stretch to think that Reaves would want to do the same someday.
Whether or not he goes through with it is another story entirely. What we do know is that he plans to play until the age of 40, which is admirable.
He will have a better chance of doing that with the San Jose Sharks than he would with the Toronto Maple Leafs, so this is the right decision for all involved.
Having said that, we do wish Reaves the best of luck in California. We're sure he will enjoy the sights and sounds.
