Andrew Mangiapane is a forward that the Toronto Maple Leafs reportedly had an interest in; however, he ended up signing with the Edmonton Oilers.
About four seasons ago,
Andrew Mangiapane reached a career high with the Calgary Flames as he scored 35 goals and 55 points.
Mangiapane was a huge favorite of Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving, who drafted him into the league back in 2015.
Following a 14-goal season with the Washington Capitals, Mangiapane was due for a resurgence, and it appeared as though Treliving and the Leafs were prepared to make him an offer.

Recently, Mangiapane was on TSN 1050, where he revealed the truth about negotiations with the Leafs and why he didn't go with them in the end.
It all boils down to the fact that he never received a real offer. Despite the interest, Treliving never actually had a real offer for the forward.
"For sure, I think I was definitely hearing out the Maple Leafs, obviously there's some pros and cons," Magiapane said.
"But there was no really, I guess, firm offer or anything like that."
It is certainly disappointing to see that the Toronto Maple Leafs didn't even bother to offer Mangiapane a deal. He probably would have signed it.
Having said that, Brad Treliving is being meticulous right now. He doesn't want to spend money just to say that he's kept busy, and this is admirable.
Hopefully, the Leafs can continue to work the market, and figure out the best solutions for this team.
