Surprising Team Enters the Mitch Marner Sweepstakes as a Potential Frontrunner

Mitch Marner is about to be the most sought-after free agent this summer. Overall, he is fresh off a 102-point season, and he is entering the prime of his career.

While he does have some baggage thanks to his poor playoff results, he is still a guy that a lot of teams are going to go to bat for.

As it stands, the Las Vegas Golden Knights and Florida Panthers are seen as the frontrunners to acquire Marner, however, there are other teams in the mix right now.

According to Frank Seravalli, there is one Western Conference team that is gearing up for a big push, and they would be a dark horse to acquire the superstar winger.

That team is none other than the Anaheim Ducks. They have a young roster that is on the rise, and it remains a market that would allow Marner to walk down the street without being recognized.

The big problem with the Ducks is that they are not going to win anything anytime soon, especially not with Mitch Marner as their best player.

The Golden Knights and the Panthers would be win-now scenarios for the Maple Leafs forward, although we think the fans in Toronto would be mortified by that latter option.

While it still isn't confirmed that Marner is leaving, it cannot be said enough that both sides are probably better off with a fresh start.

If the Leafs and Marner somehow sign a huge contract, then this relationship is officially as toxic as it gets.
