Mitch Marner's Top Free Agency Destination Revealed by Trusted Insider

Mitch Marner has a few more weeks to think about what he wants to do ahead of the July 1st free agency period.

Overall, the consensus is that the forward is going to leave the Toronto Maple Leafs and seek out a fresh start somewhere else.

After a 102-point season, he is due for a massive contract that could very well pay him an AAV of $13.5 million per season. He's a free agent who doesn't come around every season, and numerous teams will be looking to acquire his services.

However, some teams will have much better chances of acquiring him than others. One such team is the Las Vegas Golden Knights, who are a prime destination for any free agent.

While appearing on Sportsnet 590, NHL insider Frank Seravalli confirmed that the Golden Knights are the best fit right now.

The Golden Knights have a great roster and are certainly Stanley Cup contenders year after year. With Mitch Marner on the team, they would be that much better. Sure, his playoff performances haven't been amazing, but Vegas is a much softer media city than Toronto is.

Furthermore, Las Vegas is one of those places that is considered to be a bit of a tax haven. Simply put, Marner would get to take home much more of his salary, year after year.

In totality, the Vegas Golden Knights have a lot going for them. To acquire Marner, they would probably have to trade some assets. However, the Leafs would certainly be a willing sign-and-trade partner.

Only time will tell whether or not Marner really goes with the Golden Knights, or if he looks elsewhere as teams around the league look for their next first-line right-winger.
