Tonight, the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Montreal Canadiens, and the team has already made some pretty difficult decisions involving healthy scratches.

If you are a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, you are certainly feeling pretty good right now, as the team is officially back in action tonight against the Montreal Canadiens.
This is the first game of the regular season, and as you can imagine, the coaching staff had to make some difficult decisions related to personnel.
Some roster players won't get into the lineup tonight, and the Leafs made those decisions quickly and swiftly.

According to Mark Masters, the Maple Leafs scratched three players tonight, including forwards Easton Cowan and Sammy Blais. Meanwhile, defenseman Philippe Myers was also scratched.

Ultimately, this makes sense given what the lineup looks like going into tonight's game. Cowan has a lot to learn, and Blais was brought in for depth.
As for Myers, he and Simon Benoit will likely find themselves splitting time this season. That is, if Benoit takes a turn for the worse.
Meanwhile, Anthony Stolarz will be between the pipes, making for the status quo to start the year.
The official lineup for tonight's game can be found below:
Knies - Matthews - Maccelli
McMann - Tavares - Nylander
Joshua - Domi - Robertson
Lorentz - Roy - Järnkrok

Rielly - Carlo
McCabe - Tanev
Ekman-Larsson - Benoit

Stolarz starts
