Toronto Maple Leafs Can Take Advantage of the Florida Panthers with the Perfect Trade

With the Florida Panthers over the salary cap for next season, it is looking more and more likely that they will have to trade someone like Evan Rodrigues.
Earlier this week, the Florida Panthers were able to sign Sam Bennett, Aaron Ekblad, and Brad Marchand to contract extensions. Unfortunately, or fortunately for the rest of the league, this has put them over the salary cap.
Teams can be as high as 20 percent over the salary cap throughout the summer, but they must tidy this up by the time the regular season begins.
As a result, the Florida Panthers will have to make some trades, and there is a sense that guys like Evan Rodrigues could be on the way out.
Could the Toronto Maple Leafs trade for Evan Rodrigues?
According to James Mirtle, there are numerous folks around the NHL who do think Rodrigues will be the victim of the Panthers' salary cap woes.

David Pagnotta revealed that the Toronto Maple Leafs were trying to trade for Jordan Kyrou, but now that Rodrigues is available, he would be a good option for them.
I think the Leafs "poked around on Jordan Kyrou"; I don't think there was anything close there, but it's somebody they checked in on; could they poke around on Evan Rodrigues?
Rodrigues had 32 points last season; however, in 21 playoff games, he had 15 points. He is a stud in the spring, and that is what the Maple Leafs need these days.
Whether or not they try to make this kind of move remains to be seen. Although this would be a good bit of revenge on the Panthers.
No matter what, the offseason will continue to be interesting, and we are excited to see what Brad Treliving has up his sleeve.
