With the Toronto Maple Leafs looking to round out their roster, it would appear as though general manager Brad Treliving has been caught napping.
Brad Treliving has one of the hardest jobs in the world as the general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and we do not envy him.
He has to do everything in his power to make the Leafs a better team that can compete for Stanley Cups. However, there are only so many talented players available.
One player that some had been campaigning for is left-winger Joel Kiviranta. The 29-year-old recently had a career year with the Avalanche and is thought to be on the up and up.
Having said that, he is more of a bottom-six option, and with an abundance of assets, it is easy to see why Treliving would look the other way.

Today, it became clear that any hope of signing Kiviranta, even at a discount, was completely gone.
As per the Colorado Avalanche, the forward has officially been signed to a one-year deal, which will keep him in Denver for another season.
Overall, Kiviranta just isn't what the Maple Leafs are in need of right now. If anything, the team needs a guy like Bryan Rust.
Of course, getting a guy like Rust is difficult to do, and will cost a ton of assets, including young roster players like Nick Robertson.
Treliving is not in an enviable position right now, and we can understand why he might be feeling a lot of pressure right about now.
Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs are able to make any more moves before the start of the NHL season.
