The Toronto Maple Leafs are going back to practice in the middle of the 4 Nations Face-Off, and as a result, they have called up a forward from the Toronto Marlies.
However, numerous NHL teams are returning to the ice this week as games are set to resume on Saturday. In fact, the Maple Leafs are back in action on the 22nd against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Alex Steeves gets another chance with the Toronto Maple Leafs
With numerous Maple Leafs stars in Boston for the 4 Nations Face-Off, the team has been forced to make a call-up from the Toronto Marlies.
The player getting the call is none other than forward Alex Steeves, who is more than deserving of this honor.
After all,
Steeves recently broke the Toronto Marlies franchise record for most goals with the team. He has 29 in 40 games this season and he is averaging over a point-per-game with 46 overall points.
Unfortunately, his NHL career has not been a stellar one as he has only played in 11 games with the Maple Leafs, notching just one point.
This season, Steeves has been called up on numerous occasions but has only been able to play in just four games.
He could choose to go somewhere else and he would be well within his rights as most franchises would have him in their lineups at the NHL level.
Either way, we hope Steeves gets to stick around a while and we hope he cracks the lineup going forward.
