Toronto Maple Leafs Make Dramatic Goaltending Move Following Anthony Stolarz Injury

Monday night was a bittersweet one for the Toronto Maple Leafs as they defeated the Florida Panthers, albeit at a tremendous personnel cost.

In case you have been living under a rock, Anthony Stolarz was elbowed in the head by Sam Bennett and as a result, he had to be taken out of the game and sent to the hospital.

For now, Stolarz's status going into Game 2 is unknown, however, fans are very concerned about the team rushing him back too soon.

With Game 2 going down on Wednesday, the Toronto Maple Leafs were back on the ice this morning for practice.

According to David Alter of The Hockey News, Matt Murray was on the ice today, as was Dennis Hildeby. Simply put, if Joseph Woll has to be the starter tomorrow, and Anthony Stolarz does not dress, Murray will be the emergency backup. Hildeby will be the first backup.

This is not an ideal situation for the Leafs. While Joseph Woll is solid and trustworthy, Hildeby is not ready for the playoffs.

Moreover, after all of his injuries, Matt Murray is shaky as well, even if he played extremely well during the season for the Toronto Marlies.

Only time will tell how this is all going to shake out. We just want Stolarz to be okay.

Based on what we are hearing, there is a real chance he returns to this series. If he does, it would be nothing short of a real miracle.
