Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz was sensational against the Florida Panthers which has led to various hot takes from a plethora of podcasters.
As we get closer to the postseason, it is becoming a bit clearer as to who it should be and the last few games have definitely shown us this.
For example, Stolarz stopped 36 of 37 shots against the Los Angeles Kings and then stopped 29 of 31 against the Florida Panthers last night in a crucial matchup.
Anthony Stolarz makes his case for starting goalie honors
With this performance in mind, numerous personalities who cover the Maple Leafs are now claiming that Stolarz must become the starting goalie.
On Leafs Talk last night, JD Bunkis said that Stolarz played the most important game of his career on Wednesday and that he should be rewarded handsomely.
"I think it's over. I think he's the guy... This is the biggest game of [Anthony] Stolarz's career, and it's actually not even close. This is it by a factor of a billion. He was playing for a starting job on a Stanley Cup contender and he played his best period in the 3rd against his former team. It's a massive moment for the guy. Couldn't be happier for him."
There are still seven games left to be played this season and Stolarz still has room to stumble.
However, there is no doubt that his most recent performance should be enough for Craig Berube to make a decision, especially with Joseph Woll stumbling.
It is always hard picking your starting goalie, but if anyone deserves it at this point, it would absolutely be a guy like Stollie.
Only time will tell whether or not Berube comes through and makes the correct yet obvious decision.
