Mitch Marner has not negotiated a new deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs and as a result, the team is preparing for a worst case scenario in free agency.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner is deserving of a massive contract worth $100 million. However, he wants more than just that and the Leafs will be reluctant to give it to him.
While Marner might be on pace for a 100-point season, the fact remains that he hasn't done much in the playoffs, which makes a big long-term contract a bit of a risk.
Furthermore, the forward is refusing to negotiate until after the season which puts the Leafs in a bit of a pickle, especially with other players to sign.
That said, the team has to think of a contingency plan if Marner does decide to leave, and according to Jonas Siegel and James Mirtle of The Athletic, there are plenty of options out there.

Toronto Maple Leafs to pursue Brock Boeser

One of these options involves a former 40-goal scorer who currently plays for the Vancouver Canucks and has proven himself in the postseason.
That player is 28-year-old Brock Boeser, who has 24 goals and 46 points this season. While it isn't his best year, he is definitely someone who could play well on this Leafs team.
Brock Boeser - a bigger winger with 11 goals and 23 points in 29 career postseason games with the Vancouver Canucks - might be more the Leafs front office's speed. But he, like Nelson, could opt to sign in the U.S. closer to home.

Stars like Patrick Kane, Brad Marchand, and Matt Duchene have been floated around as it pertains to the Maple Leafs, but Boeser seems more realistic.
Only time will tell what general manager Brad Treliving decides to do here, especially with the pressure mounting.
For Leafs fans, this is going to be very stressful, and we just hope Mitch Marner stays and saves everyone the headache.
