The Toronto Maple Leafs came through with a huge win against the Carolina Hurricanes today and they also came through for their Assistant Equipment Manager.
Going into today's game, the Maple Leafs had a chance to officially win their division. Although they didn't do that, they were still able to beat the Carolina Hurricanes by a score of 4-1.
It was one of those wins that solidified the
Maple Leafs as a team that can go up against the best in the Eastern Conference.
Of course, with the playoffs coming up, this bodes well for the franchise and fans cannot wait to see how this all plays out.
Toronto Maple Leafs honor Tom Blatchford
After the game, the team awarded their customary belt. Typically, this award goes to the best player on the team during that specific game.
However, the team decided to award it to their longtime Assistant Equipment Manager Tom Blatchford. Why? It was his 1500th game with the team.
This must have been a very cool moment for Blatchford especially as the entire team took a wholesome photo with him to mark the occasion.
The Maple Leafs are a very classy organization and you have to give them a whole lot of credit for doing something like this. People remember this stuff for their entire lives.
As for the fans, they have a lot to cheer for as this team continues to prove that they are a real threat come playoff time.
They just need one more point in their last two games to win the Atlantic Division, or, they just need the Lightning to give up a point. No matter what happens, the Leafs have exceeded expectations.
Hopefully, the Leafs give Blatchford something to cheer about when the playoffs begin later this week.
