Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson is struggling right now and for many fans, it was long overdue that Craig Berube took some action.
Nick Robertson is a player who has been trying to find his place with the Toronto Maple Leafs this season and unfortunately, it has not gone according to plan.
After demanding a trade in the offseason, the Leafs eventually signed the forward with the hope that he would establish himself as the team's most prolific bottom-six scorer.
Nick Robertson scratched by Craig Berube
Over the last few games, Robertson has failed to capture any points and for the most part, has been a pylon out there.
Stubbornly, Craig Berube has not taken him out of the lineup and fans have been waiting for his punishment to come soon.
After a loss to the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night, it appears as though Berube officially had enough. On Saturday night, Robertson is a healthy scratch against the Los Angeles Kings.
This is a game that the Leafs need to win if they want to remain in the hunt for the Atlantic Division. It would also just be good for some confidence.
As for Robertson, it remains to be seen when he will get back into the lineup. If Holmberg plays well, it could be a while before Robertson gets back in.
One now also has to wonder whether or not he will get much playing time in the postseason or if he will just sit in the press box the whole time.
