Toronto Maple Leafs Reportedly Frontrunners to Acquire Former 40-Goal Scorer

With the NHL offseason marching forward, the Toronto Maple Leafs need to make some big moves, and general manager Brad Treliving has some targets.
If there is one thing Leafs general manager Brad Treliving understands right now, it is that trading for forwards isn't easy, especially when those forwards would play in the top six.
At the end of the day, the Leafs need some forwards to help replace Mitch Marner. The free agent market has dried up, which means they have to make a trade.
Unfortunately, for the Leafs, they lack assets, which makes it extremely difficult to get a trade done in a reasonable fashion.
Will the Toronto Maple Leafs trade for Jared McCann?
However, they might be able to make something happen soon, at least according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period.
In a new report, it was revealed that the Seattle Kraken are interested in trading former 40-goal scorer Jared McCann. He had 22 goals and 61 points last season, but the team seems poised for a different direction.
Meanwhile, the Leafs appear to be interested in making this move, as McCann could be the perfect player for their top-six.
The Seattle Kraken remain open to moving forward Jared McCann this summer.
McCann has two years left on his contract with a $5 million cap hit and holds a 10-team no-trade list. The 29-year-old is drawing interest from a few clubs, including the Maple Leafs, who continue to explore options to bolster their top six.
He was briefly a member of the Maple Leafs, having been acquired from the Penguins on July 17, 2021, in exchange for prospect Filip Hållander and a 2023 seventh-round pick. Just four days later, however, Seattle claimed him in the expansion draft-before he ever suited up for Toronto.
