Toronto Maple Leafs Sign 30-Year-Old Center to a Discounted Deal

Heading into free agency, everyone knew that it would be difficult for the Toronto Maple Leafs to make big moves and sign big-name players.
We say that because late last night, it was announced that the Toronto Maple Leafs had signed former
Boston Bruins center Vinni Lettieri to a one-year deal worth $775K.
The 30-year-old center has played 155 games in the NHL but only has 15 goals and 32 points. However, he is a stud at the AHL level.
In fact, last season with
the Providence Bruins,
Lettieri had 50 points in 47 games, which includes 21 goals. Needless to say, he will be a stud for the Toronto Marlies.
Lettieri is a depth move, and not much else. Whether or not he actually plays games with the Maple Leafs next season, still remains to be seen.
However, he is someone to sign, and if he plays for the Marlies, his salary will not count against the salary cap, which is certainly good news for the team.
Overall, the Leafs are not done, but it does seem like the market is thinning out, which means trades are more than likely on the horizon.
Hopeully, Brad Treliving can get things figured out here and prove to the NHL that the Leafs are not going away anytime soon.
