With the Toronto Maple Leafs entering training camp in a few weeks, the team has decided to lock down a prospect center to a three-year deal.

In the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, general manager Brad Treliving swung for the fences when he drafted Miroslav Holinka in the fifth round.
The 6'2" center was a beast in the Czech League, and there is no doubt that there was quite a bit of potential for him to work his way up to the NHL.
Last season, he got to play with the Edmonton Oil Kings, where he had 45 points in 47 games. He also played at the World Juniors, where he gained valuable experience.

Miroslav Holinka signs with the Toronto Maple Leafs

Today, the Maple Leafs did the right thing with Holinka as they were able to lock him down before training camp.
According to the Leafs, Holinka has officially been signed to a three-year entry-level deal.
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the hockey club has signed forward Miroslav Holinka to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Holinka, 19, skated in 47 regular season games with the Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL) last year, recording 45 points (19 goals, 26 assists). Prior to joining the Western Hockey League, the Kroměřiz, Czech Republic native played two seasons for HC Oceláři Třinec of the Czech league.

The 6'2», 202-pound centre was selected by the Maple Leafs in the fifth round (151st overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft.
This is the proper move as it will allow Holinka to potentially move to the AHL or even the ECHL this upcoming season.
Of course, Holinka could always just go back to the WHL and play his final year of eligibility and develop himself further.
Whatever the case may be, this is a good signing for the Leafs, who are trying to bring in as much center talent as humanly possible.
Only time will tell whether or not this player pans out like the Leafs think he will.
