Two Prominent Toronto Maple Leafs Stars Snubbed by Team Canada

The Olympics are set to take place in a few months from now, and with Team Canada looking to get its roster together, it appears as though two defensemen are missing.
Hockey fans are extremely excited for the Olympics, which are set to take place in February, and will feature NHL players for the first time since 2014.
After the 4 Nations Face-Off, there is a lot of hype around the tournament, especially when it comes to the Canada and United States rivalry.
However, Canada isn't going to be fielding the same roster. There are likely going to be some changes, and there is a lot of fanfare over what the roster will look like.
Team Canada leaves off Morgan Rielly and Chris Tanev
Recently, it was revealed that 42 players were invited to Hockey Canada's Olympic camp. This includes 26 forwards, 13 defensemen, and three goalies.
As for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the only player who was invited to the camp is John Tavares, who is coming off a huge season.
Meanwhile, defensemen like Chris Tanev and Morgan Rielly have been snubbed from the team, which will be a disappointment to many.
Overall, Tanev was someone that Team Canada was considering for the 4 Nations Face-Off, but in the end, they went in another direction completely.
Now, Tanev and Rielly will continue to be on the outside looking in and will watch the Olympics from the comfort of their own homes.
It is a hard pill to swallow, but it makes sense when you consider how Rielly and Tanev aren't exactly the best that Canada has to offer.
Going forward, it will be interesting to see how things play out and whether or not the Leafs defensemen use this to motivate them to have big seasons.
