Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander has been on the European Media Tour as of late, and he has been fielding all sorts of questions about his NHL team.

William Nylander had one of the best seasons of his career in 2024-25, and now, he is looking to one-up himself after scoring 45 goals in a single season.
Becoming a 50-goal scorer would be a lofty goal, but if there is anyone who can do it, it would be Nylander, as he has all the talent in the world.
Over the past week or so, Nylander has been at the European Media Tour in Italy, where he has been able to connect with fans, as well as reporters who cover the sport.
The forward was asked some very interesting questions, and now, we are starting to see some clips make their way to social media.

William Nylander on playing in Toronto

There has been a persistent narrative that it is difficult to play in Toronto due to the expansive media presence and the expectations for success.
When asked about this, Nylander was extremely honest, noting that the players themselves want to win, and if anything, they are putting more pressure on themselves than the media is.
Yeah, I mean, I think people forget that we as players also want to win. So, I mean, I think we have our goal to want to go all the way. I've been playing there for a while, but I don't know, I don't really think about what other people say or what their opinion is on how we're playing. We inside the locker room know what we need to do. It's not an easy battle, you've got to appreciate the grind it takes when you eventually get to that point.
It's good to see a player come out and admit such a thing, given the bad wrap the Maple Leafs have received over the past few years.
Players like Mitch Marner couldn't handle the pressure of Toronto and left at their first opportunity. Nylander, on the other hand, is embracing the challenge.
Going into this season, Nylander will be that much more important to the team, and it will be interesting to see how the Leafs are able to respond.
No matter what, it is very clear that this is going to be a season for the ages.
